Exhibit: Magical Botanical: The Seventh Annual Grand Isle Juried Exhibition

Matthew White was selected to show his fine art photography in "Magical Botanical: The Seventh Annual Grand Isle Juried Exhibition" at the Grand Isle Community Center on Highway 1 Grand Isle, Louisiana April 11th - 19th, 2009. The exhibition spotlighted works related the natural beauty and potential loss of the island and surrounding wetlands. The goal of the Exhibition was to raise awareness of Louisiana's coastal erosion through an artist's eye and to encourage the creation and preservation of images of this culture and its disappearing habitat for future generations.

Matthew White was selected to exhibit at the New Orleans Photo Alliance exhibition Elemental/Environmental: SPACE at the New Orleans Photo Alliance Gallery, 1111 St. Mary St. The exhibition will be on view from August 2, 2008 through September 20, 2008. his impressive national juried exhibition was curated by nature and environmental photojournalist Gary Braash. Braasch helped establish the International League of Conservation Photographers, and in 2006 the Sierra Club awarded him the the Ansel Adams Award for conservation photograph. Exhibit: The Print Center 82nd Annual International Competition

Matthew White was one of 36 artists selected out of 544 entrants to exhibit his work in The Print Center 82nd Annual International Competition. The exhibition traveled  to Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences, Loveladies, NJ, September 19 - October 27, 2008. Founded in 1915 as one of the first venues in this country dedicated to the appreciation of prints,  The Print Center's mission is to support printmaking and photography as vital contemporary arts and encourage the appreciation of the printed image in all its forms. The Annual International Competition,  the oldest of its kind in the country, attracts artists from around the world.


Exhibit: Water Consciousness, The Sixth Annual Grand Isle Juried Art Show

Matthew White received honorable mention for his image, The Rigolets in the 6th Annual Grand Isle , La. Juried Exhibition.  The exhibition theme, Water Consciousness, spotlighted works relating the natural beauty and potential loss of the island and the surrounding wetlands. The goal of the Exhibition was to raise awareness of Louisiana's coastal erosion through an artist's eye and to encourage the creation and preservation of images of this culture and its disappearing habitat for future generations. Works selected were on exhibit at the Grand Isle Community Center, Hwy. 1, Grand Isle, Louisiana April 12 - 20.  A reception and awards presentation was held on April 20 2008.
